The rates and the cap
Solar panels connected to the grid: 15 % of labour and material (20 % for installations finally paid before 1 July 2025). A system that stores your own solar electricity, or a charging point for an electric car: 50 %. The base is labour and material including VAT. On a fixed-price installation, 97 % of the price counts as labour and material and 3 % as other costs. The cap is 50 000 kr per person and tax year for all three together, separate from ROT and RUT; two owners who both qualify have 50 000 kr each.
You must be 18 or older and own the house, and your tax for the year must be high enough to cover the reduction, or you pay the difference back. The rate follows the date of the final payment. Rules change with each budget: check the current text at Skatteverket before you sign.
How Numsolar's starter price list applies it
Numsolar's Swedish starter price list (template set se/standard, version 3 of 11 October 2026) calculates the deduction with Skatteverket's current rules: 14.55 % of the VAT-included price for solar lines (15 % × 97 %), 48.5 % for battery and charger lines (50 % × 97 %), under one shared cap of 50 000 kr per year for one owner; a two-owner cap of 100 000 kr is a switch the installer turns on. The inverter gets the solar rate also when a battery is installed at the same time, as Skatteverket's page states. Travel, and a new main fuse or switchboard, get no deduction. Each rule carries its source: Skatteverket's pages and the law, checked on 11 October 2026.
Every installer sets its own template
The starter list is where a new installer begins; each installer edits its prices and rules, and its card's total is exactly what its own template yields, marked as after the deduction. The cards price a battery after 50 %, so a battery's payback is on the card, not in your head. Not modelled on a card: a cap already used with another company this year, or a buyer whose tax is too low; the installer's invoice and your tax return settle that.
Example Solar AB
128 000 SEK
incl. VAT, after grön teknik
- Installation in about 6 weeks
- about 9 years payback
- Warranty: panels 25 years · workmanship 10 years
What ended on 1 January 2026
The tax credit of 60 öre per kWh for electricity sold to the grid ended on 1 January 2026. Numsolar values exported solar at the hour's spot price and nothing more. The energy tax fell to 36 öre per kWh on the same day, which the simulation uses as its default.
